From application to installation — here's what to expect when you apply for the Warm Homes: Local Grant.

1

Submit Your Application

Complete our simple online application form with your personal details, property information, and current energy situation. The form takes just a few minutes to fill in.

You'll need your address, contact details, and information about your property type and current heating system.

2

Installer Review

Once you've applied, an approved installer will review your application. They will contact you within 10 working days to discuss your eligibility and next steps.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the grant really free?

Yes. For eligible homeowners, all improvements are fully funded by the government through an approved installer. Landlords may need to contribute towards some improvements.

How long does the process take?

An approved installer will contact you within 10 working days of your application. The total timeline from application to installation varies depending on the improvements needed and the installer's schedule.

Do I need to have an EPC certificate?

Your home needs an EPC rating of D, E, F, or G to qualify. If you don't have one, you can check your home's current rating on the GOV.UK EPC register. If your home doesn't have an EPC, one may be arranged as part of the process.

Can I choose which improvements I get?

The specific improvements will be recommended based on the home energy survey. The surveyor will identify which measures will be most effective for your property.

I'm a tenant — can I apply?

Tenants should speak to their landlord about applying. The landlord will need to consent to any improvements being made to the property.

What if my application is rejected?
